The Mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to ensure that all Americans are protected from Significant risks to human health from the environment where they live, learn and work. In order to be successful in carrying out the agency’s Mission, EPA staff members must be able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders and constituencies, often with conflicting agendas.
TerconPartners was asked by the EPA Top Office, Region 7, to conduct team building sessions that include people who needed to team collaboratively with other teams both inside and outside of the Agency. The sessions focused on strengthening collaboration across organizational boundaries. The workshop content was focused on building skill in conflict resolution, negotiation and joint problem-solving. The workshops that were highly interactive and TPI designed mini-case studies that participants were asked to discuss and problem-solve in groups.
Outcomes achieved included an average score of 4.4 on a 5-point Course Evaluation Form and positive comments from many participants about the hands on tools introduced during the workshops.
